Indications
M-Kast 4 is a prescription medication used to prevent asthma and treat allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose. It eases breathing by reducing inflammation in the airways. M-Kast 4 can be taken with or without food, but it is best taken at the same time. If you have exercise-induced asthma, it is recommended that you take it 2 hours before exercise. It should be regarded as medical advice.
Pharmacology
M-Kast 4 is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that works by inhibiting the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1). The cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) are arachidonic acid metabolism products that are released by a variety of cells, including mast cells and eosinophils. Cysteinyl leukotrienes and leukotriene receptor occupancy have been linked to the pathophysiology of asthma and allergic rhinitis, including airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process, all of which contribute to asthma symptoms.
